Partial release

I have completed a mold and removed it from the plug. The plug had some areas of drywall compound. The whole thing was sprayed with Rustoeleum. I then waxed with car wax (I’ve done that before with no problems) it well followed by PVA. When I pulled the mold off some areas stuck to the mold. I was able to release them by tapping the edge of the paint/drywall compound or by soaking the area with water. When the piece a was removed it felt sticky which indicated that there was PVA there. I believe that it’s a case of not enough PVA or possibly the wax is the cause of this. Any thoughts other than use a mold release wax?

Three wrong products just in those sentences. You are better off by using the appropriate materials.
It will save you much time and frustration, as well as produce better results.
Use lightweight body filler insteas of drywall compound.
Use polyester primer instead of Home Depot paint.
Use mold release wax designed to protect against resins and higher temps.

Dear GprodCRX,

at the beginning of my first mold I was very tired of exactly same situation, I through a lot of money to understand why this happen, so what you must careful: Do not put many layers of Polyester and cloth, this makes the heating when cure very high. The high temperature destroy the paint and other material. Of course you must first put at least 8 times of wax mould release and clean it and then if you want to be more safe put and PVA. Belive me this is the reason try it, you will see.
