Hi guys
Here’s my latest little project, I overlayed some carbon on my fibreglass fairings and painted some of the famous Yamaha speedblocks on. Its not perfect due to me only having Epoxy to brush over the carbon which is very thin so didn’t ‘fill’ the weave too well in the less than horizontal areas (due to run off). When you flat off the resin using sandpaper if you hit the cloth, you will get ‘clouding’ (you can see it in the first pic)when you apply clearcoat or more resin. My advice is to lay on loads of resin before you attempt to sand the surface. Using Epoxy also meant having to wait overnight to get a full cure between each layer.
There seemed to be a hell of a lot of dust floating about in the workshop when I layed the clearcoat so it will need quite a bit of wetsanding and polishing.
