This is an overlay, carbon over CSM. It’s a gauge pod for EP82 starlet turbos. its got lots of room for plenty of gauges, and room to store their little control boxes etc inside. the cables run through the back of it, into the dash clock’s hole, which is taken off.
originally, the dash was sprayed with pva, and csm was laid on it. then i cut off the shape of the base, and the shape of the front part on a card board. i stuck the fascia on the base, and made a skeleton of the rear part, using pieces of cardboard. then the gaps were filled with insulating foam, which was cut to shape with the hotwire method.
then, it was covered with a couple of layers of woven fiberglass and epoxy, and then filled and sanded to shape.
out of that original part (which was heavy because of the filler) i made a mold, and this is the 3rd part i’m producing. the other two , their owners dressed them up in leather to blend in with the dash, this one was wanted in carbon look.
the front part is from a different fabric, a rather heavy one i dont have anymore. it’s not installed on the main dash yet, i just left it there to take some pics (normally it gets inside and leaves a nice lip on the top)
