Our New Shop

About a week ago my business partner and I lleased out a new 2000 sq. ft. shop here in South Florida. I just wanted to post pictures of how it looked when we leased it and the progress of the renovations :).

This is how it looked day 1. It was in terrible condition. The interior was painted and put together on the cheapest dime. For example, the trim on the bathroom was aluminum gutter with plywood over the top and sides… One of the office door frames was built out of 2x2… The list grows haha.

The very first thing we are working on right now is painting the shop and rooms. The colors we will be using will be white, grey, and orange.

The floors are going to be epoxied as well. The problem with that was the landlord told us he power washed the floors so its ready to acid etch. The very first day we walked in there after signing the lease we noticed that the room was just hosed down. All the dust and grime was still there… We asked them to either higher someone else or get his money back or have them come back and redo the powerwashing. He, “brought them back” and did a better job the second time around. And left the water running with a busted pipe…

We thought something fishy was going on so we highered our own guys to powerwash the place. Here is a picture of the powerwashing and a video showing what a real powerwashing does to the floor.

Power wash before and after.

Tomorrow morning I’m going to the shop to patch up any imperfections in the concrete so they can epoxy the floors. The floor will be epoxied a light gray to offset the white walls.

Wow are you going to polish the concrete after etch? A buddy of mine took all his carpet from his house out and had it etched and polished. His concrete slab turned out looking like granite!

I like your shop.

Thanks dallasb!

We arent polishing the concrete we will have them epoxied a light gray and then clear epoxied over that to make it glossy.

John congrats, it looks like you have the makings of a nice shop there. Will be moving myself later in the year having out grown my current 1000 sq. ft. shop currently in talks on 2000 sq. ft. Which has room to install a mezzanie floor to expand later as is required.

Nice work guys…!

Thanks guys! Keep in mind I didnt do it on my own. I"m very fortunate to have a business partner that splits the work with me :D.

Thanks man! And thats excelent on your shop! Make sure to post pics when you make the move :).

Congrats! I just got my first workshop, 20x20 or 400sqft and it’s about perfect to get started. It’s good that you said business partner and not friend. Business kills friendships. Good luck!
