Now that's an infusion project!!!

 http://www.polyworx.com/apz/slov1/s1hull/

wow, now that looks like fun!

1 question dont know if any of you can answer. I think it was about photo 16. The chap was inserting another line after the resin had passed that spot. Was that to help take the vacuum lower after the infusion process.
(just being inquisitive)

from the text on the bottom of the page:
“When all the carbon had been impregnated, the resin supply was closed and we put vacuum on the inlet ports; this helps to reach a high fiber/volume fraction because most of the excess resin is near the inlet ports (less vacuum due to flowing resin).”

yeah I would agree!!!

Polyworx is a good software if you can afford it.

 id go with that explanation to (didnt notice the writing changes at the bottom(some fool put some pics on there site and i couldnt stop looking at them  ))

Ask for the trial software. It has some good infusion videos of those big boats. They’re not instructional videos but you can get an idea of what’s going on.

Mikey: good question and the text does not explain what Mitja Kosmina (he sails Magic Jena) is doing! What happened is that we had a little bit of leakage, because the keel insert was not properly sealed. We managed to get rid of most of the leakage by resealing it (from the inside, everything had to be cut away: messy job!), but if you look closely you can see a trail of voids in the mesh. Mitja made a cut in the bag and put his vacuum tube on it to reduce the voids. Probably this was not necessary (the voids were only in the mesh, the carbon was properly impregnated), but it did not hurt either.

sounds like fun Arjen!

Ive just discovered a place by me (think its called ‘Sealine’ in the uk) and theyve got loads of big speed boat moulds sat outside and now ive got a bit more insight into how theyre made.

Digging around whilst typing this and found this page
http://www.magicsailingteam.it/english/classi/maxi/magic-jena.asp some interesting stuff, Laser cut mould etc and congrats on the quick build time
