well if you guys want the skinny on what is going on with carbon fiber, maybe I can shine some light on the subject.

These are the most recent announcements

Zoltek Cos is boosting capacity to make large tow carbon fibers. Around 80,000 filaments and beyond

Hexcel is constructing an expandable plant near Madrid, adding a line in their Salt Lake City facility, and boosting capacity in Decatur, investing over $100 million in 2006 and 2007. This will increase global carbon fiber capacity by 50%

Significant carbon fiber needed for upcoming maircraft models. A380 and A350 from airbus and 787 from Boeing. Eliminating the industry’s excess capacity in carbon. The result, other carbon users scramble for the scarce commodity.

Torray, the largest global carbon fiber supplier is doubling its annul U.S. Regular-tow production in decatur in 2006 by adding 50 percent to its japanese production in 2007

Places like Seibon have not been getting much in and have dropped a lot of items from their catalog, tring to stick with their core products. To make the matters worse, dupont will not be making tow for hybrid fabrics in 2006. With the addition to their goodyear contracts and much others they are shifting their efforts in the respect. Also that most hybrids are made with 3k carbon which is not in production anymore right now for domestic market. They migh contract it so a generic can be made but who knows??

If anyone needs carbon fiber let me know i can get about 300-400yards a month
