robinair 5cfm pump and all the fittings, oil, vacuum line…etc… cost me $236 total
cool, you going to do infusions now?
in a few months time yes i will give it a stab
I got the same pump RO. IIRC I got mine for about the same price except Fedex charged me $70 for brokerage the bandits. You’ll like it!
I just finished wiring up the vacuum switch & relay on the weekend so it’ll turn itself on and off at preset vacuums. That way you can leave it unattended while the resin cures and it doesn’t have to run constantly. I’ll take a pic tonight and post the process. If you’re not comfortable with 110VAC wiring you might shy away from this but it really isn’t that hard. I managed to do it and not burn, blow up or electrocute myself!
ludky for me it only runs for 45 min at a time hehhe (i bake my parts at 150 degrees)
Make sure you change your oil after the first few runs. Mine was pretty filthy the after the first few parts. The oil is cheap enough.
i plan to change the oil after every 6 hours of use, its a pretty good pump, mine only pulls 28hg not sure why but its plenty…
first part with the new pump
hey did you get that tape yet?
Package is at the UPS Store. Pick it up on Saturday if the lineups at the border aren’t too long.
Parts look good!!! Better results with the new pump?
I’m going to do a writeup on the vacuum controller but here’s the pic.
KB, PLEASEEEEEE DO THAT!:D:cool:
Why the MAC valve and dampener valve? For discussion…

so that was jsut vac bagging right?
I’m not sure but from that pic it looks like there is a bit of dry spots/voids on the finished parts?
A few more really close up high def pics would be great, I just love to examine everythign I can to learn from it.
good stuff!
one last Q, what sort of bagging is that , it looks quite stretchy.
Looks like a good toy you have there
On the subject of pumps, Im looking to get one myself and have a play around. Eventually in the future I would like to make a cf hood but for now I’ll stick with the smaller items.
In terms of a car hood/bonnet, what kind of specs would I be looking for in a pump to make sure it can handle it? I live at pretty much sea level so there isnt a concern there. So anyone?
CFM, psi/bar vacuum etc…
i have a venturi type vacuum generator i will sell DIRT cheap along with bagging film and tape if you want…it produces 22.5-23hg and im about 760 feet above sea level…all you need is a decent size shop compressor let me know if you are interested, i have it all packaged and ready to be shipped to the first decent offer…
