finished one plug tonight. its a dc2 acura integra dash pad mould.
ill be starting on the other plug tomorrow it is a s13 240sx complete dash
i will be making these molds together so i can get two pulls per infusion.
the process has been slow because of the temperature but tomorrow will be cranking up the heaters.
picture in your mind two dashes in one mold. will be pulling vacuum from the center and a circumference of 4 total media lines. im also thinking about building two molds next week. they will be 240sx interior door panels…
i will be using 2x2 6k 10 oz fabric for these parts… i hope they drape properly.
i will be using one layer for the integra dash pad insert.
one layer 2x2 6k twill for the 240sx dash with a layer of 1/4" polyfoam on the backside for additional stiffness.
i will be taking pictures of the molds when they are done. and be doing a how to for the hardware attachement on the backside of the 240sx dash… got a neat idea for you guys and going to be trying it out.
if mr wersberg wouldnt mind i can write up a separate “how to” for this… id like to contribute a little more to the forum.
btw the molds will be walmart home depot and lowes specials and will be also posting total investment for the molds. if anyone is actually interested.
ive been doing alot of thinking lately as to how i can get costs down for the vacuum infusion process. im attacking all areas in the process. and got some sweet ideas…
stay tuned
so far the only things im going to have to order are the peel ply and actual carbon fiber…
wish me luck… ill need it.
p.s. so far ive spent 60 bux… resin, filler, fiberglass cloth, polyfill, tape, 2 part epoxy adhesive, high build surface primer, sand paper, wax.
im so excited cant you tell.
