Just stumbled across this. Looks pretty cool!
Yup, from BYU kids. Problem is, it doesn’t seem like it’s more than a prototype. And I also mean the manufacturing of the isotruss system!!

But I wouldn’t trust it. I have a fear of freak failures. Ya know, like rock climbing. YEAH, it’s safe. But you neeeeever know.
The thing I thought was stupid was to try and bill it as a piece of military equipment. Come on now… they don’t even have a Military I.D. number to be able to sell to the military i’m sure. There’s a lot of paperwork to be able to mfg products for the US Military. Most companies look at the paperwork and say forget it.
wow…cool technology but still in serious infant stage. Take a look at the isotruss webpage…‘artists renderings’ they’re pretty jokes! How do they go about making these?
As long as someone in the BYU department who designed these isotrusses knows someone who knows someone, military future is not far off. There are TONS of uses for a lightweight system like this!! Supports for almost anything. that need to be lightweight and portable.
Heck, even if they don’t sell it to the DOD/DOE/ARL outright, there are many goverment contractors like General Dynamics, Raytheon, ect that would LOVE to have this technology.
I don’;t know. I saw a website somehwere that only showed some plywood “dies” and some nails. It’s some sort of weaving, but I’m sure they won’t show the world about it, JUST yet!
I hope they work it out, they are pretty!
