New Plug.....

Heres something Im working on for myself. Going to copy some parts off of my 12 gauge.

Heres what I have so far, and with a couple disclaimers.

  1. Still need to put the locators on it (aka buttons?)
  2. Still need to putty the seams (will do that after waxing)
  3. Decided on using plexi glass as my flanges because I like
clean, high gloss flanges. Also avoiding spraying gelcoat
    or primer.
  4. Although it looks off, the parting line is dead on.

That said, what would you have done different? Anything you would add to what I have, before I continue with molding?

Looks great. I like the idea of using plexiglass for the flanges.
I use acrylic half balls for the “locators” from Delvies plastics;

You can glue them on or screw them on from underneath.

Those look great. Thanks for the link!

I’ve tried to mould on plexi before, works really really well.

Where’s the beef(photos)?

Plug is still “as is”. Took me a week to find a local shop that had kleen clay. Tried the stuff at “Michaels” art supply and it was complete garbage. Way to dry to work with.

Ill post pics of each step. Gonna use tooling clay.

I agree, Kleen Clay is better. I finally tried some a few months back and it spreads more easily than the walmart clay.

Does that rifle stock glue together or will it screw together?

It will be glued using an inner mold to hold it together. So basically the first part will be assembled, then cut in half, and then a second set of molds will be pulled from the inside of the part.

All clayed/buttoned up. Hopefully putting a surface coat on tomorrow…
