New Mold want to use today

Is it ok to use a new mold today for an infusion? The new epoxy/fiberglass mold has only cured for 40hours since it was made.

Good idea or bad? The resin seems slightly flexible still, not bad though. It is a flat mold for the most part not too complicated a shape.

if the surface layer is still flexible, I’d recheck your mixing ratios.
Deffinately use PVA and wax atleast 5-6 times

well have you build a post-cure oven yet? get on it man! Heat it up some (min 120f), for a few hours and AFTER it cools, check the flexibility after.

Im considering on building a few moulds out of expoy instead of the polyester stuff. Were you able to successfully apply the surface coating resin without any problems?

I want to give it a shot, but i am a little worried about how to apply a nice smooth layer

What I do is get my resin degassed and let it sit in the cup until it gets close to the end of it’s life and it thickens up a bit. Then I just pour it all over the mold and spread it with a brush. I let this film gel up and then I start laying down the reinforcement.
