WOW…what a great web site !
hello everyone …

might as well start off …right now .

i have to make some parts in a mold of carbon fiber…the customer wants the `LOOK of carbon fiber on the finished part .

here is my very important question/s:

i plan to use silmar 249 surfboard resin to laminate the carbon fiber…
(silmar 249 clear surfboard resin is from u s composites & is polyester resin).

do i use the silmar 249 surfboard resin …and coat the mold first with this resin…i
as i would if i were using a clear gel-coat ?

I read a tutorial that said this is what i do and then laminate the carbon fiber…i do not want to use gel-coat…or epoxy resin…

the important question is …is this the route i take to get the clear carbon fiber `look ?

i have spent all my $ on materials from u s composites…the stuff will be here next week…ups…i have been a fiberglas laminator for many years but this is my first try at laminating carbon fiber parts for a cosmetic application…

thanks for any help…
