New member Here!!!

First of all i whant to congratulate bill and Evon for a great site they got here. Before this site i saw carbon fiber babrications as a forbiden thing to learn. No one whanted to talk about it  . On this site everyone seems eager to help each other out (very rare now a days on the net).

1-Ok no on to my questions… I have spent the las two days researching this site and a have a question. If i work on some car interior trims like the A, B pilars do i need lay the carbon fiber mat on the actual piece and then apply the epoxy on top of it? I asume i will no longer see the OEM piece again right?

2-When do i use a male or female mold. How can i distinguish b/w the two of them.

3- Is there a more simpler way (more pics) to do a mold. Kind of like
Mold making for dummies…

Thanks any info will be apreciated.

P.S sorry for the long post.

Hey there,

  1. you’re on the right track
  2. depending on what you are trying to make. If you want to make a piece with a smooth finish on the outside, you’ll need a female mold. If you want to make a piece with a smooth finish on the inside, then you’ll need a male mold
  3. I’ll try to find some links that might help you.

thanks Evan!!! I’ll be on the lookout for your reply. Thanks again.
