need some help with mold construction

Need some assistance peeps

I’m looking to make one of my first molds and just trying to figure out best way of starting here’s what I’m attempting to mould, the yellow circles is where I’m struggling to figure out where to start really.

As they are recessed I was thinking do I gel coat ( got some polyester black gel coat) the whole thing leave to tack up then fill the recesses with some epoxy with filler additives so that they are flush with the rest of the piece and then wait for these to go tacky and then put my first layer of cloth down and carry on with the rest of the layers, or is there a better way of going about it?

heres a carbon version of what I’m trying to achieve once the mould is made

After you spray tooling gelcoat. Mix up either 1/4" chopped fiber, or, Q-cells with whatever resin your using and then fill the holes.

I normally use Q-Cells. Their not the strongest, but in a short run mold they work well. Im assuming your going to fill the smaller diameter part of the recess with putty before you spray gel right?

Yeah I’ve used alu tape on the underside of the recesses, I did a test earlier today where I polished the insides of the recess with honey wax did a few coats of that and then mix some epoxy resin and added some colloidal silica, glass bubbles and graphite powder to make nice thick filling resin, I filled a couple of the recesses and let them cure and removed them, they turned out great perfect in fact, so now what I’m thinking is to do the same again but coat the entire cover with this and use it as the gel coat, let it tack up and then start laying down my csm.

Any opinions welcome
