I’m not sure where to ask this question since I need some basic advice as to what type of carbon fiber would be strong enough for my project. I looked at the engineering basics thread, but I couldn’t find the information I need. I have included a picture of the 3-D model of my design, which is a holder for a surface tablet. It will consist of a 12" x 8" sheet plus two 1" x 12" pieces bonded together. The back of the main sheet will be attached to the end of an articulating camera arm with a tripod style connector. I know very little about carbon fiber, and so I have no idea how thick the sheet needs to be to support my 1.75 pound tablet. As you can probably tell from the picture, the L-shaped section at the bottom needs to support the full weight of the tablet.
