hi everyone i’m new to the forum and i’m very interested in doing my own cf work i was wondering if you guys can give me some advice and what type of material do i need like the resin and hardner etc, thanks in advance.
You have 3 choices when it comes to resin. Polyester, vinyl ester and epoxy. Poly is the cheapest and most common resin followed by vinyl and epoxy. Epoxy will give you the best strength but it also more costly. If you browse through the www.icancomposites.com store in the resin section, you’ll have a better idea of what I’m talking about. All resins come with catalyst as a kit so you don’t need to purchase them separately.
Other than that you just need either fiberglass or carbon cloth depending on what type of parts you want to make.
oook thanks also if was to overlay somehting all i do is just place the cf over the part and just put resin over it? or thats not the way to do it thanks
Yes, but it all depends. If you put carbon over any kind of plastics then it won’t bond permanently. If you want to learn how and you want to stop by my shop, I’ll show you. There are a couple of forum members who come to my shop when they’re free to work on their own stuff.
