Need help please

I need to lay up a large 60"x100" flat sheet of carbon fiber sheet on glass and need it to be clear gel coated on finished side once I pull the part. My problem is I can not position the carbon fiber cloth straight because of the gel coat being tacky. How should I go about making the gel coat not be tacky so I can lay the carbon cloth out straight then infuse. I need to be able to move the carbon cloth around on the gel coat because it’s so big to get a good straight pattern.

Should I let Gel coat it sit for a long time? How long?

Should I coat with PVA then wash PVA off after 6 hours? This would suck!

Will the VE resin bond to curred Gel Coat during infusing? After its sits for a long time?

Please any help would be great

The first thought that came to my mind would be to tape the short sides to a straight edge. Have another person hold the other end tight so the fabric is under tension and lay it down. When it’s in place cut the straight edges off.

Could you not wrap the carbon around a plastic (or similar) tube, then unroll the carbon slowly along the glass? That way you’ll be able to make sure what you’ve laid down on the glass will be nice and straight before you unroll it some more.

Another method I use for keeping weave straight is first laying the weave out on a table get it straight and then use spray adhesive ( careful not to use too much, a little goes a long way) and back the first layer with another layer of carbon. It will keep your weave from moving and will layup straight.

If you want the surface not to be sticky you need a full cure. Applying PVA is a way to speed the cure but yes it is a pain in the ass to wash off. If your washing off be careful not to damage the gel coat layer.
