need help, making a split mold for this concave recess

Hi!! i am trying to make a mold of this trunk(boot)
but there is a recess above where the license plate goes, for the lights.

i cant picture in my head how to make the splits in the mold, so i dont have a mechanical lock

appreciate all the advice!!

It’s very simple: you need a 2 parts mold. Just make a mold of the recessed area only, tapered on the opposite side so that it makes easy to remove the locating pins.
When you have to demould, take the pins off, pull the bigger mold out and then the little one in the reccessed area. Voilà.

I agree, except that I would just follow the contour across the boot (the line from the top of the recessed area). This will make setting up your barrier much easier, and the contour will help hide the flash line at the split.

So you will end up with a 2 part mould, with one part being the top section and the second part being the bottom section including the recess.

This part will still come out even from a single piece mold, I would do some alterations to make it easier
