Need Help ASAP!

hi i just had some quick questions from you guys. im currently covering my car trunk in cf and need some advice. i applied two thin coats but the resin looks to be uneven. do i keep adding more layers and THEN sand it down to make it even? if i sand in between the layers what grit should i use? anyhelp will be appreciated.

also, where can i find 1500 grit sandpaper i cant seem to find any locally. :frowning:

Yes you’ll need to keep adding more resin then sand it down smooth. If you add more resin before the last one completely cures then you don’t need to sand in between. 1500 grit can normally be found at Kreagan or AutoZone and places like that.

thanks evan you seem to be the man on this board.

should i use thin layers or more thicker, flowing layers? right now im layering it what i think is extremely thin.

Well depending on the viscosity of your resin, there’s not much that you can do. You can apply as thick as you want and it’ll just drip off. So just use your best judgement and be patience. It’s going to take a lot longer than you expect, but you might as well put the time in. Sanding it too thin and you’ll sand down to the fabric.

Evan

ok last thing. so if the resin runs it’s ok right? i just keep adding more layers? in the end after sanding it will the runs show or should i try to avoid the runs right now? (sand it down?)

i’ve applied 3 layers right now. would 7-10 layers be enough?

Yeah 7-10 layers sounds about right. As for the run, if you already have it then worry about it at the very end. Sanding it down now won’t help because it’s going to run again anyway.
