My supplier shipped Ortho resin!

I’ve been building a mold, and needed more iso tooling resin, so I was ordering more, but they asked if I want more of the ortho resin like I got last time!

It’s clear I’ve got some portion of layers using iso and others ortho. Not sure how early I switched off, probably somewhere in the first three CSM layers.

What impact will this have on my mold?

I checked and it’s clear the supplier screwed up my order and the labeling on the can isn’t very clear.

Check the Tg of the resins. That is basicly the only thing you are interested in. The reduced water resistance of ortho resins is only applicable when building boats, not moulds, unless you have a habit of parking your moulds outside.

In any case, check the Tg of your gelcoat, your ISO resin and your ortho resin. Shrinkage of ortho and iso is also a factor, but as you mention tooling resin, I guess it has been compensated with special polymers.

I think I’m good. I talked with the supplier and I believe we’ll be fine. Thanks Herman!
