I’d say your on the right track. Be really careful of those part lines. The lower mould looks really close to a mechanical lock. If the part will be ever so slightly flexible you should be ok. I’ve done this where the final part will be fairly thin and its flexibility allows it to release.
Ive got a dozen molds like this.
Might I’d recommend something else?
Only layup the top half in carbon fiber, and then infuse or wetlay carbon or glass over an actual trunk. You’ll need a trunk or a trunk template.
Before demolding off of the trunk, bond the spoiler down, and you have a perfect fit with no flex!
I did think there would be some way of doing this? So you lay up an area on the trunk slightly bigger than the footprint of the spoiler, bond onto this, and then remove and trim once cured?
Any tips on how to trim the top part accurately, can I do it in the mould without damaging the mould?
