Hey guys,
I’m Alex Schweig, a 16 year old student from Lima, Peru. I have been working with composites for two years now.
My main interest is composite R/C sailplane manufacture. However, recently I have started to delve into higher-performance composites and their applications.
I plan to bachelor in Mechanical Engineering and Master in Materials Engineering. Materials are my passion - what more can I say ?
Currently, I am working on a fully-molded sailplane, the Scimitar-II. The idea behind it is to make a unique model using the most advanced materials processing techniques possible. The model will also serve as a test bed to try out new materials and structures.
I am also in the process of writing a comprehensive beginner’s guide to composites, called “Composites Manufacturing for the Hobbyist”. I plan to publish it by October 2011.
