My first Project for Bike.

Dear friends,

To tell you the trough I just start to read for a Carbon fiber DIY before 2 months and I very happy that I am involve in this “hobby”. Before a month I’ll try to make one copy for the back fairing of my bike, so I just start with Polyester to make it through. The cast was perfect:

Unfortunately, my first creation Carbon fiber from that cast was a disaster, it was awful. I don’t now why.

So I’ll try to overlay the fairing and here my second creation with carbon fiber 200g:

I will try to send you the first creation to tell me your opinion.

NOTICE: The above project is without vacuum & vacuum bag, just with the hands.

For a first time hand layup and mold making, Id say you are on the right track.

Carbon can be a motha to get to lay up with no weave distortion on a flat panel let alone something with compound curve and angles.

What is that, an aprillia? I dont recognize the tail section.

Nope, is YAMAHA XTX660 Motard,

That thing is awesome!

We dont get that bike here in the states. Im wanting to do one from the YZ450 though…

You definetly snatched up that idea! good work and when you finish it, make sure to post pics!

I present you the front panel of my bike.

awesome! keep it up and keep the pics comming!

is the front an overlay as well? I still cant figure out how you get anything to stick to that polyprop plastic.

For sticking resin to PE, PP and those had to stick to plastics, rough sand & drill a bunch of really small holes into it for an overlay.

This CF panel is just to take the shape off the palastic. After that I take the plastic off. This panel is full CF.
