My First Mold Is Finally Finished

Finally my mold is finished.
It’s for a Yamaha 660 Tenere and its a storage pod under the seat adding an extra 11cu/L of space.
The first pictures are of the plug shaping and fairing, and what I have been trying to achieve, then the mold in progress and then finally finished.
For my first mold it was a difficult job, but its turned out very well considering.
Have just pulled the first pod and will post pictures in the next day or so.

Found it very difficult to lay the carbon evenly inside the mold without it sticking to the sides of the tacky gel coat and pieces of carbon stripping from the edges and falling in to places where they were not wanted! How do you do this neatly without bits of carbon falling off?

A few pics

A mockup of what it will look like

The above mold is for a storage area under the seat of a Yamaha 660 Tenere. The last picture is of the plug nearing its final shape and a mock up of what it will look like.
Its an added 11cu/L of space under the seat.

Your first is alot more ambitious then my first. Looks good so far.
Do you think the storage area will hold up well with a load in it over rough terrain?

Hi remy, time will tell I guess. I have a trip planned for September into Namibia which is likely to be a very rough ride.
I have also divided the storage area in half with a sturdy bulkhead, but because of the shape and access, it’s going to be difficult to get into all the corners from the inside while joining both halves.
I will post a few more pics shortly in a few days.
Thanks for the comment though and any advice is always welcome.
