mould making

hi, if i wanted to make a mould of a cam pully/belt cover from a mitsubishi evo how would i go about this? Removed would i just mix up some epoxy and cut fibre and pour it over it and use cardboard around edges to support? Also what do i put on the original piece to ensure the mould (one hardened) will pop off again?

Thanks
Gareth

try using the search function, or browse around the mold making forums.

no i cant see any guides that help. i tried searching

there are many different methods to make a mold for that, but the easiest is to make a gelcoat/fiberglass mold with polyester without any flanges. you must wax your plug surface before apply a* gelcoat, then wait till the gel tacks up and start laminating layers of mat and poly to build up a enough thickness to hold your shape sufficiently. you will want about a 50/50 resxin to fiber ratio with this type of mold. this is one of the most basic methods to making a mold. there are other methods that require vacuum or casting, but this will be the easist method for you to learn
