Mould making help

Yes, I’m totaly new here, and to composites. I would like to get started working with fiberglass and hopefully, eventually carbon fiber.

I would like to make a set of fiberglass fenders & hood for my 1989 Tercel. I was going to remove my existing fenders to use as plugs to make moulds.

I was wondering if somone could tell me what I should get to make the moulds. I think I have the basic idea of what needs to be done, but I’m not really sure what excatly to use since a majority of the terms here are still forign to me.

Ok, is this your daily driver of a car?

If so, you need to buy another set of fenders or what ever you want to make a custom part for it as it takes time and and lots of work to do this.

Are you looking to just make one set for yourself or a production run of them?

If you want to redo then from stock, the best way is to work out the design on paper first before buying the expensive materials.

Do you have a garage deicade to your project? It will get real dusty and well. there fumes too!

Please answer these questions before I go on…

PS: I started a complete from start to on the race car track of making a modified, 1 piece FG front end for my Capri 2 with digital pictures. I know have then organizied and starting to place them and written the text below them.

I’ll upload it as soon as I can. JM / Werksberg / GGROP

Please get those pictures up as soon as poss GGROP - I’m just about to embark on a very similar project myself !!!
