Pulled mould from plug not huge but big enough, this mold is two piece never had problem before,I worked in the cold, never again I have put mould plug together drilled holes and clamped them there need more reinforcement, question is could I get away building structure,ie,support around my mould to stop it warping, has any one done this.
Can you post a picture?
a frame around a mould is used often in larger structures. Glue/ laminate on flanges, leave the mould surface to prevent print. You could use a sealant to fill up/ attach a frame to mould surface, together with the attachment on the flanges.
how do you make your moulds, they shouldn’t warp on their own. Usually that is coused by too much heat(schrinkage) due to build up of laminate or heating the moulds too fast and above the maximum temperature.
I build my mould out off epoxy, there is print through never had this before there is sufficient gel coat to sand back a pain in the arse,I have built a frame around mould and added structure including filling with foam, took out plug all seem’s fine did break part off spoiler,i should no better than to work in cold conditions,
For new mold,if it is distortion, may the mold thickness is not enough, for your situation,it is better let the mold manufacturer repair it for you,or order a new mold from us
