Molding supplies - any clue what is used?

Anyone have any idea of the heat softening material and “flange tape” used at the beginning of this video. I have contacted Fibreglast and US Composites and they do not know.

Either the Fiberglast and US Composites guys and gals did not bother to look, or they are complete morons. (let’s hope the first)

The material is regular sheet wax. Both the large sheet, and the narrow strip, which just has been cut of a large sheet. Available in several thicknesses, Most suppliers even have wax fillets, to smooth out inner radii, although plasticine clay works as well.

Freemansupply.com sells the sheet wax

What is the purpose of sheet wax? It looked like he was also using a release agent on the wax?

I think I figured it out. Was he just making an overlay of the tank and the wax was used to create the necessary gap that was to become the overlay panel?

He needed a gap.

well im new to this and I ll call fiberglast not the smartest bunch, i was told to use duratech high gloss additive at a 1 to 1 ratio and it ran like hell, when I did a 3 to 1 it worked great… thank god I read the label or I would have been out 100 bucks in gel coat… wish I would have know about the sheet wax though seems like a great way to mold…
