molding / layup question

ok so here is what I am doing. I am replicating a cover for my subaru in carbon fiber. I wanted to start with something easy as I have a lot of experience with composites on aircraft but I have never done anything that required a quality finish such as this. here is a picture of the part in question

so to make the mold i was thinking orange tooling gelcoat and epoxy putty. my question is can the bond-o putty be used or is that not any good? If not where can I get putty here in the states? I am also hoping to cure the actual part under heat.

secondly what kind of problems will I be looking at with the recesses? when it comes to the layup? I would like to keep the pattern uniform. I’m thinking there will be some bridging which is obviously unacceptable on the surface. I am using 3 layers of 2x2 carbon twill with the west system resin doing a wet layup and vacuum bagging.
I am hoping to use the mold for several times so i can sell some of these to fund future projects.

thank you in advance!

You should not have a problem with bridging if proper vacuum bagging technique is used. Apply the vacuum slowly to give time to plete the bag where necessary and push all the carbon down in the recess area. Warming these areas with a hair dryer whilst laying up can help because you will start to cure the resin (to b stage), that will help because the cloth will then not lift so easily.

Hope that helps.
