Mold repair and preperation.

Well the mold did come off the plug. Now It looks like I wasn’t really paying attention when I sprayed the PVA, because the mold has some imperfections. Now my questions are:

 1. How do I go about fixing the imperfections?

 2. Can I respray the inside of the mold, then spray over with PVA so that it will cure properly?

I thought sanding would fix some of the problem, but I was afraid of going through the gelcoat. I tend to be a little aggresive when I sand and usually go through coats on accident, so I went with a 2000 grit wet. I sanded very lightly and then I went a step 1 polish. I didn’t get very far, because I had to get to work. So I just wanted to get some advise before I had to start form scratch.
But here are some picks of how it looked after I washed off all the PVA, and cleaned up the edges.

have you tried sanding it yet? when i pulled my first one out it looked terrible but after 10 minutes sanding it was perfect

I did sand a little, but I have to go back and do some more. But my problem is that are some small dust particles that some how got suck to the PVA and were imprinted into the gelcoat. So there is small valleys in it. I figured that if I sanded a little and finished it off with some polishing that it would be okay. So my it is okay to sand on the inside of the mold.

yeah, sand away  this pic shows my part that i thought was scrap but with very little sanding it came up like glass  make sure you keep the wetand dry very wet, start with maybe 600 or 800 grit going to 1500,you will be surprised how well it comes up.

Nice@ Thanks Dude!

Just in case I sand through the gelcoat, Would I be able to respray gelcoat and then spray with some PVA over so that it can cure thoroughly?

if you lightly sand it you should not sand through the gel coat
