I was just wondering how you would keep fiberglass from sticking to the original part when trying to create a fiberglass mold. I believe that you would just use a gel coat on the mold and let it cure all the way, or at least that is what I was told, but I was just looking for clarification. Thank you for any information in advance.
use wax and then place fiberglass over that. then it will separtate easier.
There are many things that you can use. The most common being mold release wax and PVA. With the wax, you apply… let dry… and wipe off. With the PVA you brush/spray on and let dry. It’ll form a thin film that seals off your part and prevent anything from sticking to it. Once you remove the mold, you can wash it off with warm water. Another one is semi-permanent mold release. Apply and wipe off before it evaporates.
