Mold making Epoxy dough

I’m going to order some of this stuff and give it a try. First they say to lay down an epoxy surface coat over the plug, let it cure enough past B-stage, then mix their epoxy clay dough and apply kinda like bondo.

I’m tired of the hard work of making epoxy molds. The demand i get i have to make 5-8 new molds each week. I just need something faster and good. Good enough to pull 50 parts from each mold.

The clay stuff is on ebay under the seller name PolymerProducts

It looks like some good stuff, I use a similar product form PTM&W. But I’m not to sure about surface coat then the dough, I always put down a few plies of glass over the surface coat, then the dough and back it up with a couple more plies of glass. Makes for a good strong light mold and saves time and resin.

isn’t post cure of suring at elevated temps a problem using this gough stuff? I mean, having any bubbles could cause cracking as the air expands…

I might try that CJ, a couple plies of 5oz glass with epoxy, then do the cookie dough.

Follow CJoes tips…

yep i definately will do that. I ordered a combined gallon of the stuff. I hope it is enough to do 3 small molds.
