mold help

I have started making a mold for a Mitsubishi evolution 9 fq400. There is a heat sink that sits under the bonnet that i want to make a mold of problem is it have louvers in it.

I am waiting for photobucket to finish uploading pics then i will put them on

any ideas tho?

Maybe create a mold without the louvres and then glue in the slats afterward? My guess is as good as yours though

fill the louvre holes with plastercine then make the mould as usual. then when you make the part it will have all the details yo need and you can cut the slots out.

Yer that’s what I have done. Filled them at a angle so ther are no over hanging parts. Time consumeing. I will post pics up asap. Hany ideas how to get it really smooth

I never personally used plastacine for mold making but my brother is an artist and he’s used it a tool that looked like a spatula. I found this thread on another forum though. It’ll probably solve your problem

I usually use either plastercine or modeling clay depending upon the job, the clay is sometimes better because it is harder when cool, needs a good heat lamp to make it plyable tho, I have some ‘clay tools’ that basicaly are bent wire of various shapes on the end of a wooden stick, you can buy them or make them your self.
