Mold for rear hugger

Been browsing this forum for some time and decided to try and make a mold out of a rear hugger i have laying around from my buddies R1. This is the first time i have tried something like this so i already knew errors were bound to happen.

Somethings i noticed, well think that i noticed:
I didn’t use enough mold release, will be spraying PVA on next time instead of wiping it on.
Guessing the gel coat isn’t think enough
Also guessing that the fiberglass I’m using is to thick to get into the creases, thats why all the air bubbles.
Tried to use masking tape as a flange, that didn’t work out to well. Or i just didn’t reinforce it enough.

My question is how would i go about giving this another shot? Looks like some paint started to peel off from the part from around the edges and the surfaces feels rather rough. Do i have to sand down the part and repaint it? Not to sure how to proceed?

Tips, advice or whatever you have to give is welcomed

You need to give more care to getting the glass into the corners alright. Poke with sticks, fingers, brushes or paddle rollers to achieve this. Those points where the gel-coat has cracked is due to air being behind the gelcoat - i.e., between the gel and the laminate. You need to work hard at removing this. Spend plenty of time at the corners.
Gel-coat thickness isnt too bad - could be a bit thicker alright particularly for a mould.
Was PVA the only release you used?

Thanks. I noticed i didnt work the glass into the corners a bit to late into the curing process, will def pay more attention there next time. I used mold release wax and pva.
