Mixing Resin Methods

I got to thinking, and thought some opinions might help.

So, I have been helping a friend get a side project unrelated to composites off the ground, and I have been browsing laboratory equipment sites and catalogs.

I’ve been thinking about when mixing we introduce air into our matrix and that creates a lot of pockets to de-gas. If we used a lab style magnetic mixer, could we theoretically see a faster de-gas procedure?

Or, like I’m guessing, this isn’t an original idea, as there are really none, and there is a product or brand that already makes this tool specific for composites.

If not, maybe I should?

could be good.

I’ve thought about that as well. The only issue I see with this sort of mixer is that it won’t scrape the sides of the container. So you’d have to mix the A and B thoroughly first, then put in the degas chamber with the magnetic pellet at the bottom and then suck the air out and mix. But if you’re sucking the air out and degasing, I don’t think you’d need the mixer inside the container would you?

If you have this setup, please do a test!
