Miller PTFE Spray Release

anyone use this with epoxy molds and parts?

I use Wd-40 ptfe dry lube (same thing) after I use frekote to stop my particular resin from sticking to the semi perm. It works great. 4 coats. Never had a problem.

So you use frekote 770 I’m assuming and PTFE.

I’m wondering if I could get away with the PTFE alone. It’s gonna be in a heated process.

Yes, I seal my molds with Frekote FMS, then use frekote 770. I then put on 4 coats of ptfe. Try testing if you can get away with just Ptfe. Make sure you put multiple coats on about 5-7 mins apart. You may be able to since airtechs safelease 40 is just water based ptfe. However, I like using a sealer on the mold first. Without a sealer you may have to use more coats to make sure that it doesn’t stick.

There is a note about temperature and the product you linked is only good to 100C. They have a recommendation for a water based PTFE for processes over 100C.

I see that now. That’s no bueno. I’ll look up yhe wd40 stuff. Anyone have another PTFE spray they like?

Whats your resin wildcard? Must be aggressive if its sticking through 770NC

I was gonna tell same thing , 770 release for me with 2 coats… whats the reason for using that spray , any sense?

Resin research. Sometimes it sticks to sem-perms. The PTFE is a safeguard.

Just make sure if you are using the spray that you find one that does not leave a white residue. WD-40 PTFE dries clear. Other brands that I’ve tried dry heavily white, so test to make sure you don’t run into this problem.
