Messing around with scraps and the cutting machine

So I was testing out the cutting machine and one of the girls in the clean room was mentioning how we needed a clock…

Looks great. There was a kick starter over a year ago that made like a carbon fiber clock face out of prepreg scraps: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/956559417/c-clock-the-carbon-fiber-wall-clock?ref=live

I thought it was a great idea

Yah I saw that KS project. I’m working on my next kickstarter project… hopefully to come soon. Have some greta prototypes and my product will be unique and useful yet, simple.

This clock was interesting cause, I’ve never done something this detailed in pre-cured material. Usually I’d machine it out afterward, but the capabilities of a cutting machine are quite fantastic.

I’ve seen them first hand, pretty nifty product, I think they still retail them as well.

Nice work.

Roman numerals would look amazing

thanks,

just messing around with the cutting machine to see how well it can cut. Freakin thing has some great detail. I use it all the time to cut templates out of plastic. I wish I had my own!

what machine is it ? what does it use to cut with ?

can i play too when you done

hahah… yah it’s a fun toy! Drop some serious cash and you can have one!

It’s a zund cutter. Cuts with either a blade or oscillating blade. Swiss made precision! Yum!

What would you cut if you could?

sheesh, ive got so many things to cut i wouldnt know where to start

mostly radio control stuff, multirotors , gliders, etc

can it do kevlar ?

Yah, it’s a good machine. I don’t know what they cost, but more than a car :-p

Yah it cuts kevlar, the kevlar we have is pretty light though. It does have a powered pizza wheel cutter, but haven’t had the need to use it.

can I have the DWG/DWF file please?

Here’s a PDF of it. I actually just downloaded a file from one of the maker sites, it was for a 3d printed clock but I tweaked it some.

Does the PDF have cutting info? We have an AGFM, but I don’t know much about it, so I don’t know what files it takes besides normal cutting files, like DWG/DWF

I usually use DXF but, I do believe my table will use PDFs… I can make a PDF when I get a chance if you need/like?
