making a mold,need help urgentish :)

hi folks,im just about to start a new mold, currently i have 2 plugs but plan to join these into 1 part so i can infuse both parts at the same time,i need to know if my planned layout will work or if i should join the two plugs along a different plane or not join them at all…each part is around 20inches long.

that will work fine. you may have to play with flow media placement in order to get it to infuse completely. you may need some spiral wrap

im glad you said that cause i had already decided to go with it  can someone show me where to put the spiral wrap because ive never used it before…

anyone?? mold is made now and just need to know where to run the spiral wrap.
cheers

Just put some spiral wrap on your resin in tee and extend it left and right out to the end of the parts, dont forget to wrap it in peel ply and have it sitting on the flow media. It should be fine as long as the viscosity of your West resin is bought down, just warm the mold and resin.

Baz

like this or right along the sides to the end?

yes thats where id put it, but this is all trial and error. you could put it down the middle and have two spiral wrapped vac lines on the outsides this being a shorter route for the resin. Give it a go on the first one it should be okay as long as you can ensure the viscosity is kept low by starting with a warm mold and resin (assume its still West)

Good luck, Baz

Just my .02¢ but, why didnt you trim your flange between the two parts so they were right next to one another?

Way less complicated to infuse and alot less wasted material.
