LARGE MOULDS :

MOULDS AND VE BARRIER (RTM, SPRAY UP, HAND LAY UP) FOR LARGE MOULDS (for example : Boat)

1/ 900 to 1 000 microns in wet film of GC 207 Blue. (or any colour, they have black, blue and green for sure)

2/ 2 x 120 gr of powder mat in RM 680 TPA (curing nearly 4 hours, lamination of the 2nd layer after peak exo). (keep 4 hours between the 2 layers) Use a low tex CSM (12 tex or so). If you cannot find 120 gr, use 225 gr low tex

3/ 2 x 300 gr of powder mat in RM 680 TPA (curing nearly 4 hours, lamination of the 3rd layer after peak exo).

4/ 2 x 300 gr of powder mat in RM 680 TPA (curing nearly 4 hours, lamination of the 1st layer of RM 2000 or RM 2000 LGT after peak exo).
Laminations have to be done with 80 – 90% RM 680 TPA.

5/ 4 x 450 gr of emulsion mat in RM 2000 or RM 2000 LGT with 1% of CATA 2000.
Repeat this operation 4 times.
Wait for end of exothermic between each lay.
You need to laminate 4 layers of 450 grams wet in wet, to achieve the proper exotherm, which you need for the non-crimp effect. This will give you about 6mm thickness. Ignore the “repeat 4 times” text. Judge yourself how thick you want it. Small moulds can use 1 set of 4 layers, very large moulds (boats over 16 meter) can use 4 sets of 4 layers.

Remark : For GC 207 and Resin 680 TPA, use PMEC Catalyst at 2%.
standard catalyst / MEKP

dear herman
I am not good in English much .So I have to do:

  1. gelcoat 0.9 to 1 mm. on the mold
  2. put 2 of 120 g or 1 of 225 g powder mat with Rm680TPA wait for 4 hr.
3.,4. is the same but change to 2 of 300 powder mat. I have to wait 4 hrs. each layer.
last layer is RM2000 with 4 of 450 g emotion mat.

these require time to make the mold by 20 hrs.( 4 hrs. each).
So I have to wake up in the early morning 6 AM and finish around 2AM. … am I correct?

For the hood just finish at last 4 of 450 g, it should be enough.

Thank You
Weera

Apply the gelcoat in 2 layers of 500 micron max.

The rest is ok, but keep in mind that you are allowed to sleep in between. I would do the gelcoat in the morning, the first 2 layers in the afternoon.
Next morning do 2 layers of CSM300 (they skip this for smaller moulds, although it does not hurt to do them). Perhaps in the afternoon or the next day laminate the RM2000.

Thank you herman
