LARGE MOULDS :
MOULDS AND VE BARRIER (RTM, SPRAY UP, HAND LAY UP) FOR LARGE MOULDS (for example : Boat)
1/ 900 to 1 000 microns in wet film of GC 207 Blue. (or any colour, they have black, blue and green for sure)
2/ 2 x 120 gr of powder mat in RM 680 TPA (curing nearly 4 hours, lamination of the 2nd layer after peak exo). (keep 4 hours between the 2 layers) Use a low tex CSM (12 tex or so). If you cannot find 120 gr, use 225 gr low tex
3/ 2 x 300 gr of powder mat in RM 680 TPA (curing nearly 4 hours, lamination of the 3rd layer after peak exo).
4/ 2 x 300 gr of powder mat in RM 680 TPA (curing nearly 4 hours, lamination of the 1st layer of RM 2000 or RM 2000 LGT after peak exo).
Laminations have to be done with 80 – 90% RM 680 TPA.
5/ 4 x 450 gr of emulsion mat in RM 2000 or RM 2000 LGT with 1% of CATA 2000.
Repeat this operation 4 times.
Wait for end of exothermic between each lay.
You need to laminate 4 layers of 450 grams wet in wet, to achieve the proper exotherm, which you need for the non-crimp effect. This will give you about 6mm thickness. Ignore the “repeat 4 times” text. Judge yourself how thick you want it. Small moulds can use 1 set of 4 layers, very large moulds (boats over 16 meter) can use 4 sets of 4 layers.
Remark : For GC 207 and Resin 680 TPA, use PMEC Catalyst at 2%.
standard catalyst / MEKP
