Major Project advice?

Ok, I am new to this forum, but have been working with fiberglass for 9 yrs. Just recently start vacuum bagging.

Here is the situation,

I am making parts for a spinner cover for wind turbines. I need to build it up to 1/2" thickness. My mold is very strong and have pulled a couple of pieces off of it. I have pictures. I just don’t know the best process for this, I think I am using too many layers of glass. I’m not sure. I am using 9 layers of 13oz. +45/-45 and two layers of 24 oz. Woven Roven.

Am I even coming close to doing this properly, for the best strength and efficiency?

Thank you for your time. I am adding some pics of one of the pulls and my setup. Agian thank you!!!

Do you know how strong it needs to be? Shouldn’t use more material than necessary. Extra weight and cost is never good!
Is this a wet layup that gets bagged? Have pics of the production process and final assembly?
IMO, infusion would be the way to go for these. Let me know if you’re interested in converting.

Yes it is a wet layup that gets bagged. I have never infused before, and have not done much reading on it. I would be interested if we could get it done better and faster. I do not have any pictures of the layup process. I do have a picture of the job these pieces have to do. You cannot see the pieces but it holds up the nose cone around all the blades so it does not touch anything.

If you NEED the half inch thickness all the way around, but do not NEED the total weight…you can always use a foam core to lighten the weight. It will still be quite strong.
