looking for some links to anything that references the requirements for a composites business and health standards in the US.
Try contacting the Calif. Air res. board and last I looked, they were up in Walnut near Diamond Bar, but that was too many years ago. I did look into the reg’s to open a composite based business, but the reg books they gave me I would of need something short of a hand truck!
But if anyone does find a website, please post it here for all to see. I’m looking to set up using our ROp class router tables to trim carbon fiber parts but may go to a vacuum collection system under the router cutter to keep the carbon dust down.
I would try surfing around

well the company I bought last year, the owner before me had been hospilizied for lung and heart problems due to resin and gel coat fumes. He passed out while gel coating cause he forgot to put on the vent and he did not have a respirator on. He had lung failure and some heart damage and sold the business to me to go to Japan and be a composites designer rather then a fabricator. I talked with him about a week ago and he had a kidney transplant too over the last 2 months because of composites fumes
oh and he is only 24 years old.
Wo is he going to be ok problems - pass on best wishes to him from me
(sorry will try not to spam the forum to much - so much to catch up on and ive developed a bad spamming habit i must now kick)
oh this happened like a year and a half ago, the initial incident. He has been fine then he got diabetes which screwed everything up again and from his previous condition made him have the transplant. He seems to be doing fine now and does design work rather then fabrication now
shit! thats bad,i didnt realise that it could be so bad for you.will be sure to wear a mask now no matter what im doing.
yeah its amazing what the stuff can do to you… i mean if you read some MSDS it gives you a rough idea short and long term what it can do to you, and its pretty nasty… Although the only thing that really affects me now is when spraying tooling gelcoat, i find that even with all the protective gear and masks about a half hour into the session my nose wont stop running and my eyes feel like they are hanging out of my head…
Although our supplier has just started bringing in LSE resin into the country so we may switch to that…
Would the rules/health standards be the same in australia as the same in US?
