light cloth with epoxy for gel coat

I will be making a high temp mold but since I do not have high temp gel coat, will I able to use my high temp epoxy with .8oz cloth for the first layer without gel coat? I am afraid it might cause any print through. Anyone done it before? Any thought?

I’m fairly sure this has been covered plenty (using a surface coat for visible carbon for example, and print through) so you may find more info if you search a bit.

If my memory serves, print through has to do with de-moulding a part too soon, and also excess heat in the job (trying to laminate too many layers at once). In either case I don’t think using a glass veil will help any. Use which ever method you prefer, maybe use the veil if you want insurance against pinholes, but for the print through it will have more to do with your curing process. (I think…)

I have tested both plain epoxy surface coats, with the addition of glass veil as well. Both were equally good. But I was worried about pinholes, not print through.
