Large infusion on split mould help!!!

Hi

I have done a few infusions on small components and find them no problem however I now have a customer wanting a bonnet infused that is on the large side 1.6mx1.5m.
The mould is split into three pieces I have an idea how to bag and set up the infusion but was wondering how to make an air tight seal between the mould flanges as they run the length of the bonnet.
Maybe a silly question but this is the largest infusion I will have done.

Any info would be great

Thanks

Take normal silikon ir acryl. Place it between the flanges and fasten them. But before that put release agent on the mould

Hi thanks for you reply.

Ok I will give it a try. Is normal chemical release ok with the silicone?

Regards

Test it. There are several silicone sealants (with or without acid, try to get the acid free ones) and too many releases to be sure.

A good release for silicone is petroleum jelly / vaseline, by the way.

Another option is to forget, and go envelope bagging.

Hi Herman

thanks for your reply the infusion is going ahead in the next week or so once the new mold has been produced. i have made a test plate to trial various release agents for the silicone.
this info has been great!!! now looking forward to the infusion
