Does anyone know what the technical style weave name this hybrid is and where it can be purchased from, perferbly not any hobby sites, but actual distro or manufacturers. I know someone else had a similiar thread before not too long ago but I cant find it. thanks
That’s some freaky weave:D Racing seat manufacturers use that weave/hybrid.
yea, i know, thats why I dont understand why its so hard to find it, i guess it would help to know the technical weave name so I could search it
a 3 x 1 twill hybrid we use looks similar althought I dont think its exactly this, a very nice fabric though
hmm, thanks, i think your right though, the 3x1 is similiar but deffinately not the same. anyone else got any thought on the weave and where it can be purchased from? Im guessing there must only be one weaver that does it this way
I found a close up pic, unfortunately the place to buy is in china, and they give no technical name for the weave
i guess its just a plain weave but has two toes of carbon/ kevlar then one toe
Might be worth looking at crowfoot, basket, and satin weaves if you are after parts that look a little different?
I think you’re right ClassicBike, that is Crowsfoot or Basket weave style. Last I heard it’s very hard to find. Last time someone on the forum asked about it, they were referred to eBay. (? not sure if it’s on there though now).
That would make a nice looking dashboard for a car.
Im pretty sure it would be considered to be just a plain weave, if you look at the photo you can see it. I looked in to the crowfoot and basket, though they look similiar they were not the same.
The material on the last pic is plain weave. Main reason for differing weave patterns has to do with the properties they provide to finished parts.
Yeah, def. plain weave. I think when you order the fabric from a weaver, you would just ask for 2 kevlar 1 carbon tow for the warp, and 1 kevlar, 2 carbon for the weft.
Anything is possible to weave. All depends on what the weaver has in stock!
yea thats what I was planning on doing, seeing if bgf would weave it, but they may only want to large runs of it, we probally only go threw 4+ rolls a year of it
Would this material take to bends and curves easily?
not as easily if it was twill, but it also depends how tightly wooven it is. I would love to get my hands on some to try it out though
