Jet ski hulls

I hate to ask such a loaded question. But does anybody have any suggestions on what to do and what not to do when building a hull for a single person jet ski? We are looking to build a few out of 4x4 carbon for personal use but we don’t want to die haha!

What I know so far is the get ski hull is about 7 ft long, about 50" wide, needs to be under 50 lbs with the hood, and will be infused with a VER resin.

Also, I herd salt water is bad for aluminum / glass bonding? Is that true?

We have build some trick ski hulls with a customer. That works, but I would work with a first optical layer and further ncf layers. You should also work with a sandwich core partially.
And Aluminium really does not like saltwater, but anodized aluminium should work.
And I would work with epoxy because of osmosis.

VE shouldn’t have problems with osmosis, osmosis only starts to happen if the laminate is wet (through the topcoat and polyester). most VE are waterresistant like epoxy.

I 've made it a loooong time ago. (25 years ago)
The only critical area is to use a core that will not delaminate with time taking all the abuses.
I ended up using 10mm. end grain balsa cut in 1 inch wide range strip letting +/-45° carbon fabric between them and overlapping all around.
With use, the core got delaminated, but the box shaped carbon was there to take all the loads easily.

Thanks for the advice! We have lots to learn.
