This video is blowing my mind. Even with the slow motion view I still don’t get how a rotary cutter is making a square hole. This is insane
It has a cam-like pulse built into the spin stroke. not unlike the Mazda rotary engine. That is how it reaches the corner and strokes the straight sides.
If that makes it any clearer ?
Oh I see, It’s not stationary in the XY direction but moving enough to cut the square hole. Or is the tool tapered and it’s moving up and down in the Z direction? I’m leaning towards the latter explanation
I thought orbital drilling was neat… pshhh not! Who would of thought the “squares” were the cool ones.
