What was once the best composites forum, is now a mine field of spam.
Is there anyway to stop it short of deleting every spam post as they come along?
There should be forum settings that require moderator approval for first posts.
I weote Canyon if I can help but did not get response.
I hope he is OK. Since this started, some of the spam has been removed, but it persists to the point where the forum pretty much useless.
I was removing spam for a while but the root cause needs to be fixed by using tougher registration protocols. I think Canyon is just really busy right now but I’m guessing he’ll change the registration when he gets some time.
couldn’t they add a few moderators to help clean up the spam posts, and to help verify members before registration?
We all need to take a turn of tracking down the spammers and beating them to death with their own shoes. We then need to nail all the corpses to a bridge as warning to deter others… or something…
I was cleaning up the spam but the registration process needs to be adjusted by Canyon to approve new members. Once that’s done the mods can help.
I just don’t understand the point of this spam. All the posts are blank. No links to the Nigerian lottery…Damn, I wanted to win it.

I just deleted a bunch… i don’t think i have rights to ban though… so the bot will continue.
It all seems to be political pro Trump one liners. Must be the Russians again… they can steel our elections but never our composites forum!
I found the one on ‘Why it’s important to say please’ to be particularly tasty.
Because if you’re going to spam a forum, you might as well teach the users some damn manners!

You guys are right, I haven’t kept up in a while and this place got wrecked.
I take full responsibility for this. But I’m struggling with solutions. I’m not quite sure what I can do, I already have four anti spam plugins installed, but clearly it’s not working.
Short term I’ll monitor closely and delete posts as quickly as I can.
Long term I need to figure something out, when I do I’ll share with everyone.
Again I’m so sorry that the site experience has been bad and I’ll do my best to fix the situation.
