Is anyone using System Three SB-112 and not clearcoating?

Just curious if anyone has used S3’s SB112 UV inhibited resin and not added a UV protective clearcoat. I’m not around the surfboard industry, but I’m sure a few of them have some real world experience. I’m making some carbon fiber kayak paddle blades and if I can remove a clearcoat step, then I’ll save time & money just buffing out the final finish.

Thanks

i have used it for a couple overlays like 6 months ago and still fine, I told the customers to just keep waxing it with a UV prohibitor wax every so often and seems to be working fine. They were grill pieces so they are always in the sun

I think a couple of independent tests have been done and the SB-112 doesn’t fade after being placed under the sun for 12 consecutive months. It loses its luster a little bit but that could easily be fixed with some polishing.

wow, that is pretty good
