Looks like Nomex is the strongest core material but also the most expensive.

Too bad that they didn’t list the perf. paper core material that we use in our Nascar 4 cylinder bodyparts. It would have been interesting to see…
Anyone ever try Last-A-Foam as a core material. A guy from Applied Vehicle Technology (http://www.avtcomposites.com/core.php3) says that the NASCAR truck guys use this stuff as core material in the truck hoods at either 1/8" or 1/4". For resin infusion, this closed cell foam looks like a good core material. Thoughts :?: I am trying to reinforce the hood skin so that the subframe is not required for support, only where brackets are needed.
I worked for a truck team in howell, MI until last year and as far as I know composite body panels are not legal in Nascar cup, grand national or truck series. Everything except the bumpers are hand formed steel sheet. Maybe the rules have changed?
Anyway, cool chart.
The front and rear facels are kevlar composites.
In my lowest level of Nascar racing (Mini Stocks @ Irwindale Speedway: check out www.LAracers.com for pictures), we are allowed full fiberglass bodies but the roof has to be the stock steel.
