I am looking for a source for interlaminar flow media. The parts we are making are 1/4 solid infused epoxy and carbon. We can’t use typical flow media on the surface of the part because we are using a reusable silicone bag to help give a clean b side finish. What I’m looking for is a source for micromesh or a epoxy compatible CFM that we can put every 4th layer or so to help with resin flow.
Thanks for your help
Vectorply makes a micromesh, 17gsm. it increases permeability, however depending on the size of your part, it might not be sufficient enough,
It’ll alter your mechanical properties but it’s possible to just throw a surface based flow media such a greenflow within the laminate itself. Or, if you’re ok with thickening the laminate, you could always use soric… All that being said, if you’re only infusing 1/4 inch, with the right stitched fabrics that have good permeability you shouldn’t necessarily need any extra flow media within the laminate stack. Look to Saertex or vectorply. It’s expensive stuff though, expect to pay more than 20 dollars per pound.
